Fifty one years ago I was born and dad rocked me in the rocking chair for hours that day. Mom tells me it was dad’s proudest moment. I sometimes wonder when I look back that there must have been days when I made him regret that first day with me. My behavior and conduct was far less than honorable. Yet the man I know as dad never gave up on me. And I guess I never did give up on him.
In our last moment together before he died, with a vent hose shoved down his throat to help him breath, and with his eyes in weakness fluttering trying to see, he lifted his head up off the pillow, opened his eyes wide, and gave the biggest and most beautiful smile I have ever seen. And in great weakness he barely raised both his hands and gave me two thumbs up!
A few days later he died. But he died in victory, and left behind not a perfect life, but oh what a glorious life, and a legacy that only Jesus can forge in the heart of men. I am going home one day to say my dad, and to see Jesus, would you go with me?

I worked with your dad at the Sanitary Engineers Office in Medina for a few years before he retired Keith. He was a great man but I wouldn’t have considered him someone who followed hard after Jesus. It’s thrilling to hear you talk about his having become such a strong man of God. I can look forward to his fellowship in heaven!
All of us (still here) at the Sanitary Engineers are sorry for your sadness. We thought a lot of Charley and have great (some funny) memories.

Dear Jim,
You would be proud how dad has grown so much in Christ the last twenty years! He and mom went out in town every day sharing the love of Christ with complete strangers. Even folks from other states have come to know them. I met a family yesterday that shared with me how they moved from Virginia and chose the Greenville Oaks Church of Christ because mom and dad were there. It turns out that mom and dad had learned that this family was looking for both work and a place to worship the Lord. So dad and mom wrote them a letter with the love of Christ and this family moved from Virginia and placed their membership at mom and dad’s congregation. WOW! Others there, litterally 100’s of souls were there giving honor to both mom and dad. It was the second largest funeral/memorial service I have ever attended. And being an evangelist I have attended my share! I was blown away at the number of folks that came. I hope I can in my lifetime do as much good as he did in a decade.
Thanks for writing and tell everyone how much dad loved them all and respected them. I always thought you guys were family.
Keep in contact and visit http://www.agapepoint.org often.
In Christ,
Keith
