“Philip found Nathanael and told him, ‘We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.’” (John 1:45, NIV)
That is how it is, isn’t it? We have been invited by someone to participate in something extraordinary and discovering how wonderful it is we go and tell others what we have discovered. We go and invite our closest friends to share in what we have just seen.
The reality for Philip, however, is that it was Jesus who discovered him. Yet, we understand Philip’s rejoicing heart. He had personally met the King of Israel, and being overcome with joy shares the good news with Nathanael.
I too have discovered this One, my friend. And I would be honored for you to meet him. His name is Jesus.
